Robert Terry suffers first defeat, loses split decision to Andreas Katzourakis
Jersey City’s Robert Terry (12-1-1, 4 KOs) suffered the first defeat of his pro career on Friday night, losing a split decision to Andreas Kazourakis (14-0, 10 KOs) in a ten-round junior middleweight bout at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Ga.
Two judges scored the fight for the Greece born, Los Angeles based Katzourakis, 98-92, while the third had it for Terry, 98-93. The fight was a semifinal bout in the OTX 154-pound tournament, with the winner set to earn a $100,000 bonus, promotional deal and a shot at the WBC silver title.
Terry, 31, is trained by Bobby Rooney at Bayonne Recreation Gym. He was a 2017 National Golden Gloves silver medalist.
