New Jersey to host first ever two-night WWE SummerSlam in August 2025

WWE announced Thursday that the first ever two-night SummerSlam event will take place at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, 2025.

The news comes following a record breaking SummerSlam 2024 in which World Wrestling Entertainment drew its largest gate for a non-WrestleMania event with a crowd of 57,719 fans attending the event at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Ohio to witness a number of marquee matches, including Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa, plus CM Punk’s first televised singles match in WWE in a decade.

The 2025 iteration will be third time SummerSlam will be held in East Rutherford, N.J., though the 1989, 1997 and 2007 editions were held at the now-vacant Continental Airlines Arena.

MetLife Stadium, which hosts the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets teams, previously hosted WrestleMania 29 in 2013 and WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

SummerSlam 2025 will be the first to follow the two-night format, which WrestleMania has followed since WrestleMania 36 in 2020.

“New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and the entire NJSEA team have been phenomenal partners, hosting several major UFC events in recent years including the record-breaking UFC 302 in June,” said Peter Dropick, TKO Executive Vice President of Event Development and Operations. “We’re excited to bring WWE back to New Jersey in a major way with the first-ever two-night SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium.”

The on-sale date for general tickets will be announced at a later date, though fans can register now for presale opportunities through the WWE website.
