Jordan Simpson to turn pro on Sept. 4 card at Prudential Center

NEWARK, N.J. — Jordan Simpson will begin the next chapter of his boxing career close to home.

The New Jersey junior middleweight will make his professional debut on Sept. 4 at Prudential Center in Newark, appearing on the undercard of the heavyweight bout between former unified champion Andy Ruiz Jr. and rising Polish contender Damian Knyba, his team tells NJ Boxing News.

The card will also feature Roseland’s Vito Mielnicki Jr. against Austin “Ammo” Williams in an important middleweight matchup.

Simpson, 25, of Middlesex, N.J. will turn professional following an accomplished amateur career in which he established himself as New Jersey’s leading open-class fighters at 165 pounds.

He represented New Jersey at the National Golden Gloves in 2024, 2025 and 2026 after winning consecutive New Jersey Golden Gloves titles in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Simpson also captured the 2025 New Jersey Diamond Gloves championship.

At the 2026 National Golden Gloves in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Simpson advanced through the opening two days of the tournament, defeating Donavon Serrano by unanimous decision and Adonis Marciel by a 4-1 decision.

Simpson, who currently trains out of True Warriors Boxing Club in Paterson, is now trained by veteran coach Edgar “Butch” Sanchez.

Sanchez has spent four decades in boxing and had stepped away from the sport before Simpson’s arrival persuaded him to return to the gym. Their partnership began as Simpson considered whether to remain in the amateurs or move into the professional ranks.

Simpson will also be advised by Luis DeCubas Jr., whose involvement gives the prospect an experienced hand to help guide the business side of his career as he transitions to the professional level.

His opponent and the scheduled number of rounds have not yet been announced.
