NJ Diamond Gloves novice, sub-novice brackets released
The novice and sub-novice brackets for the 2023 NJ Diamond Gloves tournament are out.
The tournament runs from Friday, October 13 through Sunday, October 15 and will take place at the Recreation Center in North Bergen, N.J.
The novice categories are for boxers with 3-9 bouts, while sub-novice categories are for boxers with two bouts or less on their records. Open class, or elite boxers are those who have ten or more bouts. Novice and sub-novice bouts consist of three, two-minute rounds while open class bouts have three-minute rounds.
Three female boxers signed up for novice weight classes but did not have any opponents register to compete against. Those unopposed boxers are Kimberly Cortes (139 pounds), Shinekwa Kershaw (146 pounds) and Corina Talavera (165 pounds).
