Results from Carteret: Thomas Blumenfeld, Kahshad Elliott score KOs

Thomas Blumenfeld scored his second straight KO at the Carteret Performing Arts Center, stopping Julio Rosa after four rounds on Friday.
Blumenfeld, 10-0 (9 KOs), of Springfield, Vermont dominated Julio Rosa, (11-6, 6 KOs), stopping the durable “Pantera” of Orlando, Florida for the first time in his career. Rosa, 32, did not answer the bell for the fifth round of their ten-round scheduled main event. The southpaw Blumenfeld, a former member of the Canadian national team, is managed by Daniel Gonzalez.

In other results, Plainfield’s Kahshad Elliott (6-0, 5 KOs), scored a third round knockout of Edgar Gutierrez (3-5, 2 KOs) in the second round of their junior middleweight fight. The loss is the fifth straight for Gutierrez, 33, of Yuma, Arizona. Elliott, 25, is a former ten-time national amateur champion.
In the most competitive fight of the night, Danny Barrios Flores (17-1, 6 KOs) of Phoenix, Arizona defeated Roselle Park based Venezuelan Franklin Gonzalez (25-3, 25 KOs) by an eight round unanimous decision, sending Gonzalez to his fourth straight loss.
Cesar Francis (14-2, 9 KOs) of West New York bounced back from his controversial no contest in February, knocking out Wayne Boudreaux (6-3, 3 KOs) in the third round. Francis dropped Boudreaux with a right hand that knocked him through the ropes before the fight was stopped.

Lisandra Contreras (2-0), a native of the Dominican Republic now based in Passaic, scored her second straight win, defeating St. Louis based Mona Ward (0-3) by unanimous decision. Contreras is now boxing out of Legacy Boxing in Belleville.
The card was rounded out by two New Jersey based veterans of the local amateur scene. Bernard Gardner, a Jersey City middleweight who now goes by Rex Presidential, knocked out the debuting Joshua Ross in one round, while Perth Amboy’s Jimmy Martinez won a unanimous decision over Chicago’s Javonni Bennett (0-3).
Gardner, now 32, was an open class Golden Gloves champion in 2018 and 2019.
Rising Star Promotions will have its next show on December 6 at Bally’s Atlantic City.
