ROSELLE PARK, N.J. – A team of local amateur boxers will head to Greenland for a one night event on Saturday, September 27.
The four American boxers who will compete at Godthaabhallen in the capital city of Nuuk are Sebastian Mazeneth, 22, of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn; Adam Kezadri, 21 of Sunset Park, Brooklyn; Alessandro Jaucian, 22, of Hillsborough, N.J.; and Evan Zeigler, 23, of Linden, N.J. They will compete against boxers from Greenland and Denmark.
The coaches will be Ryan Songalia and Percy Gayanilo, both of New Jersey.
Songalia, who will be bringing a team to Greenland for the second straight year, says these trips are an important cultural exchange between the two regions.
“This is a great opportunity for the young boxers on both sides to make their impacts on the world stage,” said Songalia. “We hope events like this help make the sport more popular in Greenland. The people of Greenland are some of the best people you’ll meet anywhere in the world, and it will be a privilege to put on another exciting show for them.”
Mazeneth is the only boxer making a return trip to Greenland. A veteran of nearly 50 bouts, Mazeneth won the 2025 New York Ring Masters Championships title at 143 pounds, and was a silver medalist at last year’s USA Boxing Summer Festival national tournament. He will compete against Denmark’s Matthew Vargas. Kezadri, who represents the same Brooklyn gym as Mazeneth, SweatBox, was the super heavyweight champion at last year’s Metropolitan Championships. His opponent is Denmark’s Philip Feltsen.
Jaucian, who boxes out of Strap City Boxing Gym, is a two-time New Jersey Golden Gloves champion, and a former New Jersey Diamond Gloves champion as well. His opponent will be Silas Gryholt of Denmark. Zeigler, who represents Park Elite Boxing, was a finalist in this year’s New Jersey Golden Gloves. He will face Greenland’s Luca Sikemsen.
In addition to boxers, the United States team will come bearing gifts from two of the most ubiquitous boxing entities in the sport. The World Boxing Council, one of the most prestigious sanctioning bodies in the world, and War Tape, the leading brand of hand wrap tape in the sport, have donated equipment to Fight Club Nanoq, the only boxing gym in the autonomous territory of just over 50,000 people.
The boxing show will be overseen by the Danish Boxing Association (DaBU). Tickets for the event are 200 DKK or $31 USD, and can be purchased at this link. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. local time, with first fight scheduled for 8 p.m.
