John Leonardo has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout on the June 13 Boxing Insider Promotions card at Tropicana Atlantic City after suffering a wrist injury in training camp.

The popular junior featherweight Leonardo (13-1-1, 6 KOs), was originally slated to face Brooklyn’s Daniil Platonovschi, though Platonovschi later withdrew from the matchup. He was replaced by Texan Kenneth Taylor before the injury forced the fight to be canceled. The fight was to be the Manalapan Township resident’s second straight on a Boxing Insider card.

“I suffered an injury in camp while sparring,” Leonardo, 26, told NJBoxingNews. “I apologize for disappointing my family, friends and fans and of course [matchmaker Eric] Bottjer and [Boxing Insider president] Larry Goldberg.”

Leonardo said doctors have estimated a six-week recovery period, and he expects to be back in the ring by late August or early September.

While one fight fell off the card, another has been added as Damian Tinnerello, a U.S. Air Force reservist from Berlin, New Jersey, will bring his 5-0 (4 KOs) record to the ring for a six-round junior middleweight fight against an opponent to be named. Goldberg tells NJBoxingNews that he is considering adding another fight to the card as well.

The show will continue to be headlined by the six-round all-Atlantic City heavyweight clash between Josh Popper (7-0, 6 KOs), and Bruce Seldon Jr. ( 8-0, 6 KOs). Other bouts slated for the card include Daiyaan Butt vs. David Lobo Ramirez, David Malul vs. Julius Thomas, Julio Sanchez III vs. Shawn Rall, Kahshad Elliott vs. Scottie Stockman and Jahanzeb Rizwan vs.Malik Blackwell, while Yoel Angeloni is also slated for action in a six-round fight.
