Thomas Blumenfeld signs with Rising Star Promotions
Undefeated prospect Thomas Blumenfeld has signed a promotional deal with the New Jersey-based Rising Star Promotions.
The company announced this week that it has signed the unbeaten Blumenfeld (12-0, 10 KOs), adding one of New England’s top prospects to its growing stable. Rising Star Promotions’ Thomas LaManna tells NJ Boxing News that they will announce his next fight – eyed for September 26 in Philadelphia – this coming week.
“Happy to be taking the next steps in building my career with Rising Star Promotions in my corner,” Blumenfeld told NJ Boxing News. “It’s time to move from prospect to contender and I’m confident that my team and I will get it done. My immediate goals are to keep training hard, continue improving my skills and to win each fight in dominant fashion.”
The 28-year-old southpaw, born in Fleurimont, Quebec and based in Vermont, is trained by Hector Bermudez in Springfield, Massachusetts, and is managed by the Perth Amboy-based Daniel Gonzalez.
Blumenfeld enters the partnership after a unanimous decision victory over Willmank Canonico Brito in March, but has been busy with the Team Boxing League, where he’s part of the Boston Butchers squad. As an amateur, Blumenfeld traveled the world with the Canadian national team, competing in the Czech Republic, Russia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Finland, while winning the 2017 Celtic Box Cup in Ireland with a win over Stephen McKenna and earning silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Blumenfeld has fought four times in New Jersey as a professional, all of which were in Carteret.
LaManna, who was also managed by Gonzalez, believes Blumenfeld has championship potential.
“I think he’s a world-level prospect,” LaManna told NJ Boxing News. “He was an outstanding amateur with the Canadian national team. I’m just so excited. He’s undefeated, he’s a power puncher, and he’s a guy who’s going to frustrate you. He’ll make you want to quit.
“I’m really excited for him. There are other promoters interested in doing co-promotions with him. He’s doing the Team Boxing League right now, but he’ll be ready for September, and the sky’s the limit.”
LaManna believes Blumenfeld can develop into a champion quickly.
“I see him becoming a world-renowned champion within 20 fights,” LaManna said.
